I want to start a thing where we rec fics and art to each other according to specific ideas or motifs or emotions that we want to see! I'm not exactly looking for a comprehensive list, but, just for instance, what fics or art do people think of for Legolas/Gimli when they think of the word "tender"?

For instance-- and this is by no means an exhaustive list-- but for fic, two that jump to mind right away are Seawrack by hossgal (nominally gen, but just as loving as canon, and OHHHH THE ANGST) and When the Shadow falls and Obscures the Sky by katajainen (MORE ANGST; I think I have a Type for fic).

For art, two that I really love are this piece by papermulberry (linked to my own reblog as the original was deactivated) and this one by welcometolotr (the way Gimli's hand is on Legolas's forehead, okay, I just can't).

Please share your recs as well, and if anyone has a different theme/motif/idea, please feel free to ask for your own!

I'm not sure about tender, but Mithril in his Beard by determamfidd has an interesting take on Legolas enjoying Gimli's aging.

oh, thats a super interesting idea!

fic is tricky because I tend to go straight for 'tender' as, like, a concept in everything I like or want to write, and it's super nebulous-- there's a lot out there! but art, specifically, I really loved this one from Ghostcup on Pillowfort:

(I can't remember how to do hyperlinks :o)

*does the ridiculous embarrassed flailing thing you do when you get recced*

Ahem. So. Recs.

For fic, there's one thing only. Like, hands down, nothing else can compare. By Sarn Gebir by TAFKAB/@urbanspaceman. If I have any aspirations as a writer, it's this sort of condensed beauty of language and emotion. Unfortunately the author has taken all her work offline, but she's here on DW and you can get downloaded copies if you ask nicely :)

As for art... how about this thing I have described as "disgustingly soft and domestic".

I have now read Seawrack, and I wanted you to know I'm now emotionally compromised T_T
